The term "lumpectomy" means the removal of a lump from the breast.
However, it has come to be associated with cancer surgery
for early forms of breast cancer. Lumpectomy is
usually done together with the removal of
lymph nodes from the armpit on the side of the tumor.
Radiation therapy is usually done after the surgery.
